WHEN WILL I FIND OUT WHAT TIME TO COME TO THE CENTER?
You will receive a call before the end of day the business day prior to surgery. If you do not hear from the center by 4 pm the day before surgery, please feel free to call the center.
IS IT OK TO EAT OR DRINK THE DAY OF SURGERY?
In almost all instances, you should not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery. Whether or not you can take your regular medications with a small sip of water the morning of surgery depends on specific instructions you will get from your doctor and the center no later than the day before surgery.
Is there a parking space available?
Yes. The surgery center has an ample free parking available to patients and their caretakers.
Can I come to the facility by myself on the day of surgery?
You must identify an adult to accompany you when you leave the facility. Due to the effects of anesthesia you may be disoriented and have coordination issues even after you are discharged. Patients are not allowed to drive for 24h following anesthesia administration.
What should I bring with me on the day of surgery?
In order to be admitted, please bring your ID and, you are using your insurance to pay for the procedure, your insurance card. If you are using your insurance and you have an unmet deductible, we will also request that you bring that amount with you. If you physician prescribed you medication or provided equipment you'll need after the procedure, bring that with you as well.
Will I need any additional tests before my surgery at Kendall Pointe Surgery Center?
Unless your physician refers you for additional testing, we will not require that you undergo any additional testing prior to your procedure. If there is a need for additional testing you will be informed either by your physician or by the nurse contacting you prior to the day of your surgery.
Can my family member/caretaker accompany me once I am called to the back by a nurse?
Not immediately and not always. Let the nurse know you would like your family member to accompany you, and will let you know if and when is that possible.
Does my caretaker have to stay at the center until my procedure is done?
No. We ask only that your caretaker is available to contact and will pick you up after you are discharged.
Is my doctor going to be at the center when I arrive?
The Center's staff will prepare you for surgery. Your surgeon will speak with you prior to your procedure, once you have been admitted.
How long will I have to stay in the recovery after the surgery?
Patients undergoing general anesthesia stay in recovery anywhere from one to three hours. Depending on the type of procedure you are having, length of your stay will vary. Talk to a nurse to learn about the length of your stay.
